Kvarner – Entertainment for Sailors

Kvarner – Entertainment for Sailors

Opatija, a place of mild climate and a hundred years of tourism, represents the ideal starting point to explore other Kvarner islands because, apart from being at the heart of the Kvarner bay, it is well connected with other larger European centres. The special microclimate of this place, characterised by calm seas and a lot of sunshine, will make sailors stay moored longer at this beautiful tourist town.

The surrounding Kvarner sea is best known for the islands Krk, Cres, Rab and Pag, so in good weather conditions do sail towards the eastern shores of these islands, getting to know the surreal power of nature reflected in their northern shores shaped by the strong winter wind (bora). After leaving the imposing Krk bridge behind, sailors will also find safe haven in the deeply indented Soline bay, apart from the picturesque little town of Vrbnik. Known for former saltpans, medicinal mud and the safe berth Klimno where even gourmets can find local specialities suited to their preferences.

Leaving behind the interesting bare and rocky coastline and the famous strait Senjska vrata, sail towards the wide and diversified northwestern part of the island of Rab where a totally different scenery awaits you, with tempting green coves. Three indented coves called Draga are paradise for children and lovers of sandy beaches. Islets and turquoise lagoons are just a small taste of the diverse beauty of Rab, and those who prefer to stay safely moored for the night there is the ACI marina Supetarska draga.

Lovers of nightlife entertainment and unforgettable parties must visit the neighbouring island of Pag and the world-famous party destination, Zrće. Getting to Zrće from Novalja is quick and easy, and Novalja even plans to expand its nautical services in the near future. Those who prefer more quiet areas can visit the ACI marina Šimuni, which is just 8 miles away.

You should spend at least one night on your vessel surrounded by unspoiled nature and listening to its undisturbed sounds. The ideal place to do this is the uninhabited cove Punta Križa on the island of Cres, a fantasy destination.

A similar atmosphere can be found in the pebble bay with overhanging pines, in the deeply indented western coast across the island of Rab. We recommend staying the night at the picturesque town of Rab, perhaps the most beautiful pearl of these waters. The imposing walls and four bell towers with their melodious sounds make this medieval town especially charming and beautiful.

For your last night we recommend visiting Puntarska draga on the island of Krk, a wonderful cove famous for its islet Košljun, and also one of the biggest marinas in the Adriatic. Spend your last relaxing hours in the cove Torkul, one of the most beautiful coves of the island of Krk and then sail back towards Opatija.
